With
the addition of a CNC router and a 3D computer-modeling
program, GCB has advanced custom composites work again.
Our MultiCam router has a 20 ft. by 5 ft. table with
15-inch clearance under the gantry. The 16 Hp spindle
and 8-position tool changer allows us to cut and carve
a variety of materials in an extremely efficient manner
with amazing accuracy. We now have the ability to carve
male and female molds, cut interior joinerwork panels
(including doors and door openings that are all identical
throughout the boat), as well as cut station shapes
for the initial hull and deck plugs. This has resulted
in a significant reduction in man-hours and increased
efficiency and accuracy during the building process.
GCB’s new facility will also
feature a new six-axis robot gantry tool. This machine,
custom-built specifically for Goetz’ needs, will
have a working envelope of 75’ x 25’ x 12'.
It will allow for direct cutting of female molds, eliminating
the need for the additional step of creating a plug.
