Sleighride, as her name suggests,
is fast and exhilarating. Launched in July of
1996 she had her first sea trials in Narragansett
Bay. With a wind speed of 25 knots and 25 guests
aboard, the boat accelerated like a sports car,
reaching an astonishing top speed of 24.1 knots.
The 77’ Sparkman &
Stephens design is intended for high performance
day cruising and occasional racing. The hull and
deck are pre-preg carbon fiber with a balsa core,
which was vacuum bagged and cooked at 100 degrees
C. She is a fine example of the expertise and
technology Goetz is recognized for – lightweight
(32,500 pounds), yet strong and rigid structures
that can push the limits of speed and excitement.
