This lightning-fast catamaran
was built in 1987 for Mr. Al Copeland, founder
of Popeye’s Famous Fried Chicken. The Peter
Birkett 50’ design was the first composite
offshore racing powercat with a weight savings
of approximately 40% compared to her alloy counterpart.
She was built utilizing S-glass, carbon fiber,
and aluminum honeycomb, and in 1998, won the World
Superboat Championships.
